We're excited to welcome literary agent Barbara Poelle of the Irene Goodman Agency to the Creative Academy. Barbara has over ten years of experience as a literary agent working to build the careers of a range of writers in different genres. She's the author of the Writer's Digest column "Funny You Should Ask."

We collected questions from Creative Academy Members- everything they wanted to know from what the heck an agent does all day, to what she likes to see in a query letter, to what advice she would give to writers who want to build a career in this industry and Barbara gave us her answers.

If you're working to polish your own manuscript, check out the Revisions Checklist in the Academy's Free (Yep, you read that right, free) Resource Room.

And if you are a member of the Academy stop by Eileen's Office Hours on Tuesdays to discuss your query letter or have it reviewed. (Or anything else crafty related you'd like to chat about). Not a member of the Creative Academy? Why the heck not? In addition to being able to ask questions to industry professionals for these types of interviews, we have weekly office hours to support you on your writing journey, master classes, a chance to build your writing community and a heap of tools and resources. You can learn more about membership here.
